Management of Open Educational Resources at the University of Medical Sciences of Havana

Abstract

The growing relevance of Open Educational Resources (OER) in higher education, especially in medical settings, demands the implementation of institutional strategies to ensure their effective management.To describe the current state of Open Educational Resources management at the University of Medical Sciences of Havana. A mixed educational and technological development study was conducted. The non-probabilistic sample consisted of 26 professors from the Academic Vice-Rectory. Surveys were administered to methodologists and academic leaders. Seventy-seven percent of the professors had not received training in OER; inadequate management of these resources was identified. The management of Open Educational Resources (OER) at the University of Medical Sciences of Havana is deficient, which negatively impacts their use in educational processes. It is necessary to improve the management strategy, technological infrastructure, and the ongoing training of faculty members.
